notes (from november 30th):
- startup is extremely straightforward, courtesy of the software actually shipping in steamvr (which you could say is anti-competitive compared to other options as ALVR and Virtual Desktop. they have to ship dedicated software)
- Auto settings weren't... really good for me. 25~40mbps bitrate target, and around 1024px "encoded video size" (this seems to be foveated rendering?) were good enough for my system
- Ryzen 4600G, RTX3060 12G
- vrchat worlds used to load test: Thad Mandelbox, Audio Orbs, Club Orion
On disconnect, exit SteamVR after
is a good setting to look at. 5 minutes (the default) is probably not what you intend.- latency spike recovery is really good compared to Virtual Desktop. i think need a new router, though (i should wipe my quest os install first and see if that fixes it). my router is a tp-link ec225-g5 and ever since vWhatever of the quest os, the system can't keep up properly when i move my head fast
- if only volvo released some sort of usb device that did the wifi for me
- the microphone setting, by default, was like 15% for me. i think that's a bug but you should turn it up in the steamvr menu
