so, you got a quest 3

these are my opinions in regards to recommendations, based on using the gear myself and recommending that gear to others. the priority may be different to you!
this assumes you just got a quest 3, and while many of these work for quest 3s, you'll have to do specific research for it
in order of importance, you want right after:
- a bobovr m3 head strap (MUST HAVE, everything else here can come AFTER you have the ability to use the headset for over 30minutes without a headache)
- you can go with the bobovr m3 pro if you want battery packs
- do NOT rely on stock strap
- do NOT use elite strap (got 2 friends that disliked it)
- a wifi AP in your room that can do 5GHz, preferably with your computer connected to it
- preferably your computer with a dgpu is a windows system
- not making a specific recommendation for hardware
- a good (65w+) usb c charger. i use a shiny gan thingy from ugreen
- from https://www.meta.com/help/quest/3482884435359892/:
- Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S 18W
- Meta Quest Pro 45W
- Meta Quest 2 10W
- from https://www.meta.com/help/quest/3482884435359892/:
- 2m usb c cable (preferably right angle cable), i got a braided one from ugreen
- amvr controller knuckle straps
- i see a LOT of other knuckle straps made out of silicone covers, tried one and it feels so abhorrently bad to the touch i just point towards the amvr one
- earbuds, if you like them
- i use kz zst pros, i'm not audiophile
- quest 3 notes:
- it will not use the microphone from your audio jack. the stock microphone is pretty good so you don't have to worry about it imo
- it has bluetooth support i think, but i'm not going to use bluetooth out of principle
- experimental support for usb c microphones
- quest 3s:
- has NO 3.5MM AUDIO JACK.
- lenses, if you wear glasses
- also important if your glass frame is too wide for entry into the headset (which was the case for me, i had to do a specific process to enter the glasses then put my head in lol)
- i use https://vroptician.com/
wait, what about headset? #
talk to me, really. the situation changes year-over-year, different people have different specific requirements (some can't pc, some can, some can only linux, some have diff hardware, some want for specific purposes, etc etc etc).
here's my shitty flowchart that i would show people to help them decide what to do
